Recently I read an interview that I found quite interesting, it was with a woman, and it was interesting to me because I started wondering about her life philosophy, or lack thereof, or how she sees her life.
Have you ever wondered about your life philosophy? What are your values? What do you want to see when you look back on your life, say when you retire?
In the interview this woman said: “The life has come to me rather than me having created it”.
Maybe there is nothing wrong with this, as long as your life brings you what you want.
I would rather be the captain on my ship, sailing through life´s big waves, so to speak, than be like a cork plug floating around life with no control of where I go or where I end up.
I want to have effect on how my life is, I want to take part in creating it even though I can´t control every bit of it.
It is also very unlikely that our lives will be nothing but one big sunshine without some rain once in a while – but we have to be aware of what we long for, what we want, that we can surely have effect, even though we of course have to be willing to do some (hard) work in creating the life we want.
I think this applies both for our private and professional life.
Are you happy we the job you are in? Do you have assignments that you enjoy? Are you proud of yourself in how you go about doing your job? What are you doing to have effect on how you develop in that job, and I´m not only talking about raises, more like assignments, environment etc.
Are you where you want to be in your life? Are you doing something that you find interesting? What are you doing to have effect on what kind of life you live?
I suggest that you think about this saying: “Who writes the script for your life?” and think about your part or role in it and if it is just the way you want it to be, and if not, what you can do about it, what you can do to have effect and change if necessary, re-write the script if you like.
At least I want you to promise me one thing! Do whatever lies within your power to, than when you look back the feelings will be more of joy and proud than bitterness – whether you are thinking about your private or professional life.
