How do you measure your wealth?
People have different measures on wealth.
My father always says that his children are his wealth – remember I have 12 brothers and sisters!
I also know people who measure their wealth on their bank accounts or their salaries.
There is no one right way to measure your wealth – you just do that according to your personal values.
I think real wealth is not only about money but still I will now be focusing mostly on money since your finances are one aspect of your 360° Success.
Don´t be afraid of money, they are great!
In my adult life I have had to reprogram my brain on how I think about money.
I used to be so afraid of money, that I would not have enough to get by. I don´t understand why I have had to fight this fear when I know that I am very resourceful and can always use my talents and capabilities to earn enough money to take care of me and my family – and I do not think I´m above any job so that would not be a problem.
Even though years ago I experienced days or weeks where I had so little money that I had to flip every coin and compare prices like crazy when doing my grocery shopping and other things then I have never experienced any serious shortage of anything over a long period of time.
Now that I´m doing better in my life I still sometimes think about money as if there is a real scarcity of money in the world and even though I have always been able to pay my bills, that used to be one of my biggest fears in life, not being able to pay my bills on time.
When doing this reprogramming on my brain there have been few tips and advices I have found helpful, both to have more money and enjoy my money more – because for me it is not about the money itself or a fat bank account, but the energy it creates for me, to help me enjoy and live the life I want.
- Maybe you don´t need more money but rather to know more about your money.
How much do you own? How much do you owe? How much do you really need? Do you have sufficient insurances? Are you getting the best interest rates you can get? Are you paying too much for things? Are you using your money wisely?
- Put some money aside every month – doesn´t have to be much but you will be glad to have some savings when interesting opportunities of different kinds (travels, investments etc.) come your way – or if you have unexpected expenses.
The person in my family that always has enough savings to pay for trips with his family or for unexpected expenses is not the one earning the most money – but the one that treats money the best!
- You may need to spend or invest your money to make money.
Invest in yourself to develop yourself and grow your skill set and capabilities. Read books, listen to webinars, and attend courses and conferences – not only on matters that may be necessary for your work but also for yourself and how you want to grow in your life.
- Know your worth.
Make sure you are paid what you are worth, whether you are getting hired for a full-time job or selling your time in any other form. Don´t waste your time doing things you can pay others to do while you make more money. We all have different talents and capabilities, we should use them to our biggest advantages, whether it has to do with money or other things.
- Share and enjoy your money – you will not be able to use it when you leave this world, and you don´t want your family to fight over it when you are gone.
Share your money with others; sponsor a child, a student, a talented writer, musician or entrepreneur, travel and do things you like or pay others to help you out with things you cannot do or don´t like doing.
I for example sponsor a child in Uganda, support various charities and good causes here in Iceland and chip in on various projects on crowdfunding sites on a regular basis
I also enjoy my money in various ways, like travelling and paying a person to clean my house. I don´t like to do it so I happily pay a person that needs the money to do it and everybody is happy.
