To be the chosen one is something you are probably quite often striving for.
This can be scenarios like you trying to get a new job or a promotion. Be elected for a board or committee. A friend to visit or a parent to hang out with.
There are several keys issues that matter the most if you want to be the chosen one.
Here are the top four.
How do you see the world and other people? Are you quicker to see everything that is flawed or everything that is right? Do you see options and create opportunities? Or are your eyes more fixed on possible obstacles? Are you stuck in the past and holding grudges? Or are you enjoying the present and being optimistic about the future and all the fun to have? Do you fill people with energy – or drain them of energy?
It is just as important to be a good listener as a good talker. Look at your own message with other people´s eyes, before you start trying to convince them of your ideas. Understand where other people are coming from, and use their lingo to explain your message. Treat others the way you want to be treated.
Be reliable. Be ethical. Show integrity. Think more about being trustworthy than how to gain trust. Respect and support others. Prioritize and think more about being productive than busy. Develop yourself, as a person and a professional. Do what you say you will do. Finish your assignments on time. Be able to live up to the standards you require from others. Learn new skills. Read.
Be You. Be who you say you are. Allow people to get to know the real you. Don´t be one person today and another one tomorrow. Have an opinion on things. Don´t be afraid of changing your mind. Be clear on your personal values. Don´t be afraid of setting boundaries. Have the guts to fight for what is right.
All of this matter a lot when you want to be the chosen one.
