When I wanted to give everybody alarm clocks!
I have told you before about my decision in 2011, to leave my job. For a while I had been feeling that I was starting to repeat myself at work, doing same or similar things year after year, so I felt it completely right to make the decision to quit.
Still this was a big decision for me, but I decided to listen to my heart, it was not in tune with my job anymore.
Around this time I met a lot of people that said that they felt I was brave for making this decision.
People were telling me about all kinds of decision they wanted to make, regarding their jobs, education, relationships, travels and more – but they couldn´t get themselves to make the decisions they yet wanted.
This made me extremely restless and I wanted to give everybody alarm clocks!
I wanted to wake people up because time passes quickly and I know too many grumpy old people, full of regrets.
Maybe I jumped because I had jumped before, a totally different jump though…
But all of this leads me to telling you about one of the best decisions I have ever made in my life and how I managed to make that decision.
In 1996/1997 I was a single mother (my son 4/5 years old at that time), had finished my degree in education, working as a teacher in a grade school and had recently bought my first apartment, so everything was just going pretty well.
Yet I knew in my heart I wanted something different and something more, for myself and for my son.
Most people around me felt that I should just be happy with what I had and what I had managed to do in my life.
One question kept popping up in my head, while thinking about various options and decision to make: “Will I regret it later if I don´t….?”
Answering this questions helped me make one of the best decisions I have made in my life.
I decided to go for further education in USA so I moved there with my son for almost two years.
It was not always easy but it sure made us both stronger and gave us a lot of gifts.
This decision helped me boost my career, made me stronger and gave me tools to use to improve my community, my environment, my finances and also my relationships, both at work and in my private life.
The main message of this story is that if you are thinking about making some decisions or changes, in any aspect of your life, then just do it!
Maybe you don´t have to make any big life changing decisions in your life, but if you feel you haven´t done your best to live the life you actually know you are capable of, at least you have to do some thinking…
