How to win is a question you might be asking yourself. As a professional, you are probably dealing with a lot of competition, in your everyday work environment. Whether you are working as an employee or own your own business.
The economy seems to be doing better after the financial crisis a few years back. That can lead to a lot of new opportunities and more competition.
Now is a good time to sharpen yourself. Make sure you do everything within your power to win in the competition you are facing.
How to win – if you are climbing the ladder in your workplace
Stop doing what you do best!
Is it possible that you are holding on to some tasks or projects? Tasks or projects you are so good at that you could do them blindfolded. Hand those tasks and projects over to others so you, and them, can learn new things.
Look at every assignment from more than one angle.
Is it possible that you are stuck in some old tracks? Maybe missing out on some great opportunities because of that? Try to approach all your challenges in a different way than you usually do. This way you keep yourself challenged and sharp.
Learn some things you (think you) already know.
Think about some of the computer programs you are using every day. Is it possible you could use them in a more effective or efficient way?
Think about some things you think you are good at and try to become even better. If you think you are good at giving presentations, then go for a course in presentation skills. One can always become better and you want to stand out.
Take good care of yourself
For top performance all the time you need to be in a good shape. That goes for physical, mental, social and spiritual shape. Prioritize and take time to take good care of yourself. Prioritize and take time to have fun. Exercise. Nurture yourself in a sensible way. Make sure to get enough sleep. Do fun things and hang around with family and friends.
