Last Friday night, after a busy week I felt the need to wrap the week in somehow.
I felt I needed to see how aligned my busy-ness is with my values in life and how much I am enjoying it, both in my private and professional life.
So I sat down by my dining-table, lit some candles and took out a stack of values-cards I was given at a conference I attended recently.
The stack contained close to 100 cards, each with one value or things that are important in life.
I was supposed to categorize them into “Very important”, “Important” and “Not important”.
Then I was to take the very important ones and narrow them down to only 3 cards or 3 values that have the most meaning for me.
I believe it is very important that you know your values. They can help you in all your decision-making, whether in your private or professional life.
Decisions that you make and are aligned with your values will make your heart sing!
One of the cards or values I ended up with was “Fun – to play and rejoice”.
That is so true for me, to have fun means a lot to me. Not only do I think it is fun to have fun but it also fills me with energy.
When I´m having fun, being high on life and feeling energetic I always want more of that – so when I´m in that state it becomes self-fulfilling, I do more of the things that boost up my mojo.
When I´m high on life my mojo is high and then I feel I can do almost anything; I put my decisions into actions and don´t want to waste any time, from enjoying every moment and making my vision become my reality.
What about you?
- What are your values?
- What values are you fulfilling with the choices you make regarding how you invest your time?
- What are you doing to enjoy every moment of your life, and your work, more?
- What carrot are you using for yourself to increase the chance of turning your decisions into actions?
- What do you do to make sure you take steps that move you closer to your dreams and vision?
My suggestion of an exercise for you to work on this week is as follows:
Write down on a piece of paper everything that has meaning for you in your life, both in your private and professional life.
When you are done circle the 10 things that matter the most to you. Write those 10 things on a new piece of paper and narrow them down to only 3 and there you will have your core values.
I don´t know if “Fun” will be one of your values but I´m sure realizing your values you will be more likely to have fun and take steps towards your vision.
