So much to do – but how much gets done?
If you are like many of the people I have worked with
- you may be gaining clarity on what you want in your life, at home and work
- you may have pretty good view on the options and opportunities you have, and what opportunities you might have to create yourself
- you may have thought about how to get pass possible hindrances or obstacles
- you may be pretty good in making decisions
But how many of your decisions get turned into actions?
Please answer this honestly. Think about decisions you have made recently regarding your daily habits, your way of handling your finances, your exercises, your work, your reading, your friends…..
How many of your decisions get turned into actions? Probably fewer than you would have wanted, am I right?
Systems can give you freedom
I know a lot of people, both people that label themselves as creative, free-spirit people that say that they don´t want to be tied down by some rules and regulations, and then just regular Johns and Junes like me.
All of us, no matter how we view or label ourselves, can benefit from having systems of various kinds – in form of digital reminders, forms or exercises on a paper (like goals, to-do-lists, vision-boards, schedules etc.), coalition with a friend or a coworker or some other form of system.
Systems can serve as our friends or allies that support is in getting those things done that we want to do. Systems don’t have to be limiting or straining, like some people tend to think. Systems can give you freedom, can set you free from the draining feeling that you have so much to do, but yet feeling that you are not doing the things you want to be doing.
I at least think that it is better to have systems or organizing that fit me and my needs, and help me getting things done, to turn my decisions into actions – instead of waiting forever for maybe the right time to come or to be in the right spirit.
No matter if this is about remembering to take my vitamins daily, call me mother more often, get more things done at work or writing a book.
Sometimes we just have to do things, and go from distractions to actions.
Remember – we don´t want any more grumpy old people in this world!
Do the things you want to do and don´t end up as a bitter and regretful person.
