A great question I got!
Last week I attended a short course on Personal Goal Management. It were a very interesting 3 hours where the trainer talked about what we have to do to reach our goals.
One of the things he talked about was discipline and he asked the group this question: “Would you rather suffer from discipline or suffer from regrets?”
Wow, what a great question! It hit me in such a way that I haven´t been able to stop thinking about it for a few days – and for several reasons…
Do you suffer from discipline?
The word discipline tends to have quite a negative meaning in people´s minds, and the question of the trainer reflected that as well, I think, talking about suffering…
You may fear harsh discipline of others but if you discipline yourself in a healthy way I think you can do great things, in your career, your health, your relationships etc.
Remember to use your free will to choose for yourself, what kind of life you want to have, in every aspect of it – and then take the responsibility for making that come true.
– It is not only your right to have a good life and successful life, the way you want it to be, it is your own responsibility.
Self-discipline is just another word for self-control – and how can that be bad, controlling yourself?
It says nothing about punishment or tormenting yourself, rather this is about inner strength and self-leadership.
And the more you practice self-discipline the easier it gets.
It is well known that people who want to do great in sports, music and more, must work on their daily habits and discipline – and they know what they are aiming for and what the rewards will be.
But this applies to other things as well.
What do you think you could improve in your career, community, environment, finances, health or relationships with a little more of kind self-discipline – so you don´t have to have any regrets later on?
