Just as I keep encouraging you to work on your own definition of Success, both for your private and professional life, since there is no one right definition of Success, then there is no one right way to have or live Success.
However based on a lot of researches, and my own experience, there are several key factors that weigh more than others when you are working on your Success, whether in your private or professional life.
You may want more of something to have the Success you are after and you may want less of something else to have the Success you are after – Success is in fact sometimes about something less, rather than something more.
On all of those 6 key factors you can choose different ways.
No choice is wrong but some will help you with your Success while other will probably not.
Those 6 keys you can use to open the door to your Success are:
The results of a study of more than 500 individuals, students, academics and workers, published in the Journal of Personality and Social Psychology, showed that those who appeared more confident achieved a higher social status than their peers.
Success, it turns out, correlates just as closely with confidence as it does with competence.
So choose to be confident! Yes I believe you can choose that.
It may takes some practice but you will get there if you decide upon it.
Have to confidence to decide and choose what you want and what you don´t want – then go for it.
Have the confidence to go for your own definition of Success, instead of chasing somebody else´s definition thay may include something that has no meaning for you or will not make your heart sing.
If one of your daily habits is about choosing to be confident then what other daily habits might help you have the Success you are after, or want to maintain?
Your definition of Success may include something about your health, finances, relationships or career.
Now choose daily habits that will support you in having what means Success to you.
They may be about your diet, exercises, spending less so you can save money for your dream vacation, way to always look and feel your best etc. Decide on what daily habits will serve you best, and stick with them.
“Your attitude determines your altitude.” With good, strong and positive attitude you are much more likely to achieve your goals, whatever they may be.
So choose your attitude. Bright and early every morning give it some thought.
How do you want your day to be? Who do you want to be? How you want others to see you? What do you want to have done before you rest your head on the pillow in the night?
Choose how you view things or your attitude towards different people and various situations – and believe me, life tends to become so much better when you try to see the good in everything and think more about solutions than problems.
With more complex communities, workplaces and families, communications skills are becoming more and more crucial.
Communication skills are in fact one of the two factors I think are most crucial to have Success in today´s environment, the other being confidence.
High IQ may be good for certain situations but high EQ (Emotional Intelligence) is probably more important, and in more situations, for your Success and Wellbeing in life.
If you are trying to get other people to understand your ideas or trying to find the best solution in all challenges and situations you are dealing with, to have the Success you are working on, you have to be able to understand others before you try to make them understand you.
This is best done with good communications skills.
Whom to hang around with
Surround yourself with great, positive and supportive people. Some say you are the average of the five people you spend most time with so choose wisely.
Choose your friends and coworkers from the league you want to play in, position yourself – and make decision from where you want to be rather than where you are at.
You may also want to look towards your role models, in various aspects of your life, to keep you motivated.
Decide never to give up!
You may sometimes take two steps backwards before you make one step forward – but as long as you keep moving and moving in the right direction, towards what you want for yourself, then I don´t have much worries for you.
